A familiar street food with a healthy twist, our Oats Dabeli recipe is an easy and quick fix for your tiffin woes. Packed with healthy vegetables covered in fibre-rich oats and delicious flavour of Kissan Sweet & Spicy sauce, you’ve got yourself a tiffin time favourite for your little ones.

Ingredients

  1. Oats: 1 cup
  2. Oil: 1 tablespoon
  3. Onion: 2 tablespoons plus a little extra for the crunchy mixture
  4. Capsicum: ½ cup
  5. Cauliflower (blanched): ¼ cup
  6. Green peas (blanched): 2 tablespoons
  7. Cabbage: ¼ cup
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Black pepper powder: 2 teaspoons
  10. Cumin powder: 2 teaspoons
  11. Chilli powder: 1 teaspoon
  12. Turmeric powder: 2 teaspoons
  13. Kissan Sweet & Spicy Sauce: 2 tablespoons
  14. Potato (boiled): 1
  15. Tomato: ½ cup
  16. Pomegranate Seeds: 1 tablespoon
  17. Chopped banana: 1 tablespoon
  18. Dabeli Masala:1 teaspoon
  19. Chaat masala: 1 teaspoon
  20. Fresh Coriander: 2 teaspoons plus a little extra for the dabeli mixture
  21. Pav (whole wheat if possible): 3
  22. Cheese: a handfull for garnish
  23. Water as required
  24. Masala peanuts: 1 tablespoon

Method of Preparation

  1. Heat a pan, add oats and roast lightly. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  2. Heat oil in the same pan and add chopped onions, capsicum, cauliflower, green peas, cabbage and capsicum and sauté well.
  3. Add in salt, pepper and powdered spices to the mixture. Pour in some water and let the veggies cook.
  4. Add Kissan Sweet & Spicy Sauce, chopped potato and tomatoes. Close the lid and let it simmer.
  5. Add in pomegranate seeds and banana and mash the mixture together.
  6. Mix in the roasted oats, dabeli and chaat masalas and fresh coriander leaves. Mix very well.
  7. Cut the pavs in half and fill them with the mixture. Garnish with a sprinkling of cheese.
  8. Toast the pav on both sides.
  9. In a dry plate mix together masala peanuts, chopped onions, fresh coriander to make the crunchy mixture.
  10. Dab the dabeli on all sides with the crunchy mixture.
  11. Crunchy dabeli is ready to pack in the tiffin box.

  13. Raisins and chopped watermelon (or any fruit of your choice)
